Media Center Policies

Students will be required to sign a media permission form each year before your child will be able to check out materials from our school's media center/library. Students are responsible for all materials they check out and are expected to return materials on time. Items are checked out for one week. Students may renew the book repeatedly if extra time is needed.

Should a book be accidentally damaged, please do not try to repair it yourself. Return it to the media center and tell us what happened. We will try to repair the damage using professional book repair materials and techniques. If the damage can not be repaired, you will be responsible for the cost of replacing the damaged book. Students are also expected to pay for any lost materials.

I encourage every student to get a free Orange County Public Library card. Cardholders have free access to extensive online databases for research. You can also request books from the Public Library, either by phone or online. The library will deliver them to your home for free.

The media center at Whispering Oak is a very busy place. We are always looking for volunteers to help out in the media center during book fairs, or even by doing work for us at home. If you or anyone you know would like to get involved, please contact the media staff by phone at 407.656.7773 extension 2237.
